Every little bit helps

The Melbourne Times estimates John So’s 2004 election campaign spend at approximately $400,000 (16/7/08), and other front-runner candidates to have spent between $60,000 (Gary Morgan) and $230,000 (James Long). The Greens, on the other hand, were outspent by John So’s campaign 80 to 1. We still managed to come second, with approximately 45% of the two party preferred vote (est). Imagine what we can do if we can afford to send electoral information to every voter on the roll for the first time.

This year, we’ve eclipsed our previous efforts and have fund-raised many times more than our 2004 total already. But if we’re going to win the race and elect Australia’s first Green Lord Mayor, we’ll need the help of generous individuals like you.

Can you make a donation, small or large? With your help, we can post letters and flyers to residents and businesses in buildings that our volunteer letterboxers can’t get to: $50 will see an extra 110 people receiving the Greens’ messages, and with enough similar donations from individuals, we can find the votes to help win the Mayoralty and Deputy Mayoralty and forge a sustainable future for our city.
